A Christmas Dress

I had so much fun sewing up this Christmas dress for my daughter.

Do you ever go through times where you are obsessed with one or two colors and you start to notice that everything you buy or make is that color? I do! Right now its all the natural tones. I couldn't help doing this little number in the Gold and white. I'm just loving gold.

colored pencil rolls

Tutorials for crayon rolls have been all over the sewing/craft blogs for a while now. I finally put some together for my kiddos for Christmas. I looked at a couple different tutorials but since I used colored pencils instead of crayons I had to make some changes to the measurements. Also one of these tutorials uses interfacing and one uses flannel to help give this roll a little more stability. I decided to use fusible fleece and I thought it worked wonders.

Here are the two tutorials I looked at before starting:

Crayon roll by Prudent Baby They used some fun ribbon to tie up the roll.

Crayon roll by The Pleated Poppy They used a button and elastic to fasten the roll up.

These went together so fast and I think they will be perfect for my youngsters for church.

Repurposed shirt

I was going through my drawers throwing stuff into a Goodwill bag and came upon this long sleeve shirt that I used to love. It was missing buttons on the cuffs but I knew what I could turn them into.

I cut the long sleeves off and added some fun lace. I still need two more replacement buttons but I think these little leg warmers turned out just darling. I think they would be cute worn with flats or sticking out of the top of her favorite pair of tall boots.

What do you think? Do you have some long sleeve shirts you need to get rid of? Try turning them into something fun!

My Christmas countdown

I have always wanted a nice advent calendar. This year I finally made one. I am so excited to string it up and fill the little triangle pockets! I just cannot wait! Love all the earthy colors and was so excited about some of the trims I found. Each triangle is lined to make a nice pocket.

I used 3 different sizes of triangles. The small triangles will be filled with small pieces of candy. The other two sizes will be filled with a more exciting surprise. Here are just a few of my ideas.

I will put a bell in one with a note about The Polar Express. That night before bed we will make time to watch the movie.

In another one I will place our gingerbread man cookie cutter with a tag that says we will be making and decorating gingerbread cookies that day.

I found this cute, very small, Nutcracker that will be in a pocket and that night we will read the Nutcracker story.

Here is a fun one I found at Michaels. Magic Reindeer Food!

Tell me how amazing this over-sized key is. I found it at Pier One Imports with all their Christmas ornaments. This will be placed in the pocket for the 24th. I am attaching a tag that says "SANTA'S KEY". Christmas Eve they can hang it on the outside door handle so Santa can get in. We don't have a chimney so he will need a way in.

A sneak peek...

Here is a special dress I have been working on for my niece in Missouri. I thought I would give them a little look before I send it off.

They requested the big bell sleeves and the pink sash which turned out just darling! Good choice girls!

Christmas Jammie Bottoms

Sewing up some Christmas over here lately. Made 3 pair of "candy cane" jammie bottoms for my kiddos for Christmas. For my daughters pair I added some girly trim at the hem and a bow on the waistband. Sorry boys, yours were left plain. Although we are fans of the University of Utah and their colors do consist of red and white. So I just might be adding a "U" down on one of the pant legs.

I have also been working on a Christmas countdown/Advent calendar. It is turning out darling and I can't wait to show you. Just about finished with it.

A couple more trick-or-treating bags

On Thursdays My son gets done with preschool the same time my daughters 1st grade gets out. Really, who can be in two places at the same time? A cute, very well behaved boy from my daughters Kindergarten class (last year) has the sweetest lady for his mom. I asked the sweetest lady for a huge favor... to swing by and pick up my daughter every Thursday. She has been a life saver. Anyway, I made up these two cute trick-or-treating bags for her kids as a little thank you.

GIVEAWAY****Personalized Trick or Treat bag

I was at TJ Maxx last week and found the cutest cloth napkins with this spider web print on them. The set of 10 or 12 was only $4.99. So I threw them in my cart with an idea in mind of what I would make with them. I have been looking at halloween fabrics and knew I couldn't only spend 5 bucks and get what I wanted. So I was excited.

That night I opened up the box that has been storing the embroidery part of my machine. I have yet to take that portion of my machine classes but I took the time to read through my manuel and then got started. It all came together well for my first time trying it. Here is the end result.

Now I only have 2 more to make. Well make that 3 because since this is my 100th post I will be making and giving one away to the lucky winner.

All you have to do is:
1. LEAVE A COMMENT
2. CREATE A POST on your blog about the giveaway
This giveaway will be closed September 30th and the WINNER will be posted on OCTOBER 1st.

GOOD LUCK!!
