Little Elephant softie

Amazingly I found 20min to make this cute Elephant softie. Found the cute pattern at birchfabrics.  It went together super fast.  In fact I think stuffing it took longer then sewing it. 

 I love chenille!  Sad that I cannot find it at my local fabric stores anymore.  I have been ordering it online when I need it and its a pain.  However, I love it when I can add something homemade into a gift bag.  

Perfect addition to the little story book, socks and outfit we found.

A twin size quilt

Here the twin size quilt my daughter and I made out of scraps from my scrap bin.  It turned out bright and colorful.  Dropped it off with the little old lady in town and she did the machine quilting for us for only $28.    

Halloween Costumes

I did throw together some pieces for costumes this year.  Here is little boy blue.  I only did the overalls.

I only made the tutus for the twincesses.

Only made the cape here for the vampire.

Whipped up the fox shirt and pants and tackled the tail and ears.

Little red riding hood made her own apron.  I made the cape and the dress which I really, seriously slopped through.  The twins just take  up so much of my time I have to really rush through everything else.  

Baby quilts

I have been dabbling around in the quilting world.   Here are the first 2 baby quilts that I made to give away as gifts.  I dropped them off last week to this little lady in town that machine quilted them for me and only charged me $12 per quilt.  Now I just have to get the binding on them.  So excited!

two little white dresses

I totally took the work out of this one...I cheated.  I found this little white dress at Target.  I thought that this dress would make for a perfect blessing dress but I didn't like the pink roses.  I examined them and knew they would be easy to remove.  So I bought two of the dresses for these twin girly's.

Here is what we ended up with.  I added some sequence ribbon and a couple of white flowers to the bodice.

I am loving the results and  it was an inexpensive way to go when needing two little white dresses.  Quick and little work.

Two sweet, lil pink blankies

I made these two sweet blankets for these twin girls we are expecting.  They are just little receiving blankets with soft, creamy pink flannel for the back.  Can't wait to wrap our little girly's in them.

Hungry Bunnys

I made these four Hungry Bunnys for Easter.  The kids loved putting all their treats in them.  I found this cute and free pattern at Lil Blue Boo.  It even has a tutorial to go along with it.  These fun little bunnys are fully lined and go together so fast.

These are pictures before I added the buttons for their eyes.  In fact I never got pictures of them after I added their eyes but oh well.

Luke Skywalker

My two younger boys fit into some costumes from past years.  My oldest however just couldn't decide.  Finally the week of Halloween he decided on Luke Skywalker.  We made the white tunic that he wore a white long sleeve shirt under.  The pants are just basic elastic waist pants that I threw together.  The tie belt went together fast and I used a hoodie as a guideline for the hood on the cape. 

Alice

My daughter had a hard time deciding between Dorothy and Alice.  As you can see she ended up going with Alice in Wonderland for Halloween this year.  I used New Look pattern #6448 view D without the sash. I found it in my pattern stash. Although view D was sleeveless I ended up using the pattern because it had a collar.  I did not have a pattern for the white apron so I just made it up as I went along

Rice Heat Pack

I decided to make a rice heat pack for each of my kiddos for Christmas. So here is the first one...finished. Yes I have started on Christmas.  I  began by putting  a few drops of Essential oils in with the rice, stirred it up and let is set for a few days.  This made it smell wonderful.  

We recently moved from California to Missouri.  The winters are so much colder here.  I think the kids will enjoy heating these up and laying them over their cold tootsies or hands.

little apron

The kids school is doing a fundraiser with baskets.  So each class has a theme for their basket. Like my daughters 3rd grade class was assigned "Snack Time" and my preschoolers is "Cooking With Children".  Each child is supposed to donate something to go into the basket that coordinates with the theme and then they will auction them off.  So I decided to make a little apron for my son to contribute.  I was hesitant on measurements so I went searching the web.  I found this darling tutorial for a child's reversible fat quarter apron.

I wanted to try and use up something out of my fabric bin.  I needed something that could be worn by either a girl or a boy.  Here are the scraps I found.  I used the measurements she has posted for the fabric and also the idea for the button.  I used fabric for the ties instead of ribbon and I didn't do the pocket or the trim.    So we switched it up a bit but it turned out pretty cute.

Halloween bat pillow

Just started decorating for Halloween around here.  I made this cute bat pillow.  Then we painted the big tall black branch as well.  We have lots more to do but its starting to look like Halloween. 

Easter Dress

My daughters obsession with turquoise has been going on for a while.  Back before Easter I began making a YELLOW dress. This yellow dress was supposed to be my daughters Easter dress to wear on Easter Sunday.  She saw me working on it one night and explained to me that yellow did not remind her of spring.  The yellow I had chose was bright and vibrant like a dandelion.  I loved it but clearly she did not.  So I asked her what her idea was and she said something pastel.  Ok, well what color of pastel?  Turquoise... and here is what we came up with.  I never got pictures back at Easter so I had her put it on so we could document our Easter creation.

A dress fit for a wedding and a brides headband

My sisters wedding was getting closer and closer.  My daughter begged me to make her a dress in one of the wedding colors.  I finally broke down a week before and ordered this fabric online.  I told my daughter that if it got here before we left I would make her a dress.  We were planning to leave on a Tuesday night.  The UPS man delivered the precious fabric Tuesday afternoon and I had to keep my word.  

This is a simple knit maxi dress.  What makes it fun is the long, braided tie that wraps around and around then over her shoulder.  I was unsure what my daughter had in her mind as far as "a dress to wear to the wedding"  But this is what I came up with while she was in school.  I got

lucky...she loved it!

The sash that my sister used with her wedding gown was this same peachy, blush color.  

I also worked with my sister in creating the headband for her wedding.  She found one online very similar that she wanted but didn't want to pay the price ($400)  Outrageous, I know.  Waiting to get more views of it from her Photographers.

Girls Maxi skirt

We found this colorful fabric and fell in love.

I think my daughter was drawn to it because it has teal in it which happens to be her obsession right now.

Anyway we made a simple maxi skirt and we both love the results.  With all the colors in this skirt we are left with lots of options for tops to be worn with it.
